Police secures court order to block JJB protest opposite Election Commission

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said that a court order was obtained against Jathika Jana Balavegaya Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and several others, preventing them from protesting along roads leading to the National Election Commission in Rajagiriya.

Police Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court issue the order upon considering the submissions made by police.

26 people including Jathika Jana Balavegaya Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Tilvin Silva, K. D. Lalkantha, Vijitha Herath, Harini Amarasuriya, Nalinda Jayatissa, Bimal Ratnayake, Sunil Handunnetti, and Wasantha Samarasinghe are prohibited from protesting along Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte Road, Cotta Road, Nawala Road, Sarana Road, and the roads leading to the National Election Commission in Rajagiriya.

The Jathika Jana Balavegaya had planned to protest opposite the National Election Commission on Thursday (8) evening to demand that the Local Government Election be held.
